About our Web Site

This web site is still having things added to it. It is hoped that as time goes on it will build up to have everything that you as a Beaver, Cub or Scout in the 17th West Lothian Scout Group need to make your scouting life easier.  Eventually all the documents will be in A4 and A5 size so you will be able to print them out and fit them into an A4 or A5 size folder, which will build up over the years into a great source of information.  If you want to see something on the site just tell your leader or e-mail the Webmaster. It is hoped that other Scout Groups will be able to gain from the site as well.

A busy weekend started on Saturday when the Group gathered at the Craigs campsite to pay special tribute to Hugh Devine by planting a tree in his memory.   The service was attended by Hugh's family, members of the scout group and senior members of West Lothian Scouts.  We were also able to presented cheques to Cancer Research UK and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Johns Hospital .

On Sunday the Scout Group was well represented at the Area Carol Service.  Owain piped in the colours while Iona , Callum and Samuel carried the Groups flags. Two Beavers Charlie and Samuel read out prays.

The occasion was also chosen to make a presentation to Liam Shade (14) who was awarded one of the Scouts highest honours, the ‘Medal of Meritorious Conduct’ in recognition of his prompt action in going to the rescue of an elderly man during the summer.

The weekend was rounded off when Scouts and Explorers Angus, Iona , Neil, and Owain appeared, as members of NYCoS, on Songs of Praise in the evening.

The Scout Troop had a great time in Northern Ireland (See the Scouts Photo Album) when they met up with the 1st Castlerock Scout Group.  The scouts stayed in the scout Hall on Friday and Sunday night but spent the Saturday night out in the field.  On the Sunday afternoon and Monday they went sight seeing visiting the Giants Causeway, Carick -a-Rede Bridge, and Carickfergus Castle before returning home on Monday night.  A great time was had by all and we would like to say thanks to the 1st Castlerock for hosting us over the weekend and we look forward to their return trip to West Lothian.
